From mobility aids to participation: a KADEF practice note
A practical explanation of why assistive-device activities and engagement with participants belong together.

Practical support and participation
KADEF's community activities include assistive-device distribution. This practice note explains the inclusion considerations connected with that work; it is not a clinical study or a measurement of long-term outcomes.
Beyond access to an item
Mobility support addresses a practical barrier, while participation also depends on accessible information, opportunities to ask questions and space to express preferences. A person's needs and circumstances should guide the discussion rather than assumptions based on a photograph or disability label.
Information and follow-up
Clear explanations about the support offered and how to contact the organisation help participants make informed choices. Questions about accessibility, use and further assistance belong in appropriate follow-up, with personal information kept private.
Activity records and reported results
KADEF reports assistive-device activities alongside education support and community awareness. Its overall reporting for 23 September–20 October 2026 covers Gwoza, Borno State, and Yola South, Adamawa State. The aggregate reach is not a count of mobility-device recipients. No separate device-distribution total or long-term outcome is asserted in this note.
Learning and accountability
Participation records, aggregate reach and changes in people's circumstances answer different questions. KADEF's impact and evidence pages explain its published indicators. Confidential beneficiary registers, diagnoses and individual case histories are not public resources.
